The Draft Environmental Impact Report has been published for the South Campus expansion of Head-Royce, a selective private K-12 school in Oakmore, Oakland. The proposal would expand the campus size, nestled in the Oakland Hills, from 14-acres to 22-acres and increase the educational capacity of the institution by over three hundred students. Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill is responsible for the master plan and architecture.

School Expansion Proposed At 2350 Green Street In Cow Hollow, San Francisco

Permits have been filed seeking the approval of the expansion of a school located at 2350 Green Street in Cow Hollow, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the remodeling and additions that will expand the existing building footprint. The project site houses St. Vincent De Paul School, containing the main school building (currently being used as the lower school), a gymnasium, and classroom buildings (currently used as the middle school). The project site is a parcel spanning an area of 37,734 square feet. The project proposal includes the infill of the first floor of the middle school and a new addition, including a new stairway connecting the middle school and the lower school. The middle school will increase in size from 5,972 square feet to 13,650 square feet. Emeryville-based architecture firm Ratcliff is responsible for the design concepts and construction.

New Creative Arts Building Opens on San Francisco State University Campus

For the first time in 25 years, San Francisco State University has opened a new academic building. The project includes the construction of the George and Judy Marcus Hall for the Liberal and Creative Arts Building, which is home to SFSU’s Broadcast and Electronic Communications Arts (BECA) program.

McCarthy Building Companies is the general contractor. Mark Cavagnero Associates is responsible for the design concepts. SWA Group is managing the landscape architecture. Other project participants include Forell|Elsesser Structural Engineers, CSW civil engineering, and WSP for mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP).

Pre-application documents for a several-times proposed Museum of Jazz and Art have been accepted for review by the Oakland Planning Commission. The museum hopes to build on city-owned land at 1310 Oak Street, across from Lake Merritt in downtown Oakland. David Allen, the founder, CEO, and Board Chairman of the Museum of Jazz and Art and lead at Allen Architectural Engineer, is responsible for the crystalline design.
