Student-Housing Developments Anticipated in Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento

Development permits were submitted for proposing the construction of two student housing developments on 6661 and 6409 Folsom Boulevard in East Sacramento. The first project proposal for 6661 Folsom Boulevard includes a new six-story multi-unit dwelling and has been submitted for a site plan and design review. The student-housing planned features a 143-unit building with 376 beds and surface-level parking for 74 vehicles. The site is located at the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Elvas Avenue and currently houses three buildings proposed for demolition.

Urban Catalyst, a Silicon Valley real estate opportunity zone fund, has plans to build a 21-story high-end student housing tower right next to the San Jose State University campus in the fast-urbanizing downtown San Jose. The 250-foot tower will yield 335,260 square feet with capacity for over 850 student residents, parking for cars and bicycles, and shared amenities. Permits filed in June and July of this year are currently under review by the city.

$1.1 Billion Aggie Square Development Approved by UC Board of Regents

Plans for a 1.38 million square foot addition to UC Davis’s Sacramento Campus have been approved by the University of California’s Board of Regents. With the decision made just weeks after the City Council also approved the development, their decision paves the way for the school to begin construction on phase one by early next year. The project, to be built at 2751 Stockton Boulevard in Sacramento, will produce a public plaza connecting four new buildings with housing, office space, and new research capacity. UC Davis picked Wexford Science & Technology and GMH Capital Partners to be joint developers of the project.

Renderings have been released, showing the futuristic design planned for the Career Education Complex at San Jose City College, San Jose. These new designs come from Steinberg Hart, an international architecture firm with roots in San Jose extending back to the 1950s. Once complete, it will offer facilities for career education courses and a welcoming environment for the rest of the campus. The spaceship-like complex is expected to cost $112 million for completion.
