The race for the tallest building in Berkeley continues, and it is a contest of single-digit differences. Updated plans have been filed with the Berkeley Planning Department for 2128 Oxford Street, which raises the project to 26 floors and 284 feet tall. The plans are now the tallest proposed building for Downtown Berkeley, extending just seven feet over 1974 Shattuck Avenue.
The San Jose Planning Commission is scheduled to meet tomorrow to review the Final Environmental Impact Report of Cambrian Park Village in West San Jose. The mixed-use proposal aims to create a new moderately dense hub in a low-density corner of San Jose. Kimco Realty Group is the property owner.

The application has nearly doubled in residential capacity while the height has been raised from 17 to 25 floors tall. On top, a rooftop bar and restaurant will offer commanding views of the surrounding region and, potentially, two more similarly-tall buildings. Core Spaces is the developer.

The project will create 283 apartments designed for students attending UC Berkeley. The Hub is well located for such a purpose, as it will rise across from the campus’s western entrance. Core Spaces is the project developer.
New renderings have been revealed along with updated planning documents for Freedom West, a multi-billion dollar project to build 2,387 new residential units in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. The development will offer replacement housing for all displaced residents while adding a new hotel, retail, community spaces, and new open space. MacFarlane Development Company is responsible for the application.
