Renderings have been published for an eight-story mixed-use development at 1598 University Avenue in Central Berkeley. The project will demolish two single-story commercial buildings to add 210 apartments within walking distance of two BART Stations, with affordable housing thanks to the State Density Bonus program. Trachtenberg Architects is responsible for the design.
A new multi-phase development has been proposed for a life sciences campus at 2222 Fifth Street in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the redevelopment of a Class A creative life sciences campus. Plans call for the renovation of the four existing industrial buildings plus the construction of a new building. Steel Wave and Walton Street are the project developers.
New plans have been submitted for a ten-story mixed-use development at 2900 Shattuck Avenue, corner location by BART’s Ashby Station in South Berkeley. The proposal will create around 221 new homes in the East Bay by transit and the famed Berkeley Bowl Marketplace. NX Ventures is sponsoring the development.
Permits have been filed seeking the approval of renovation of a building at 2449 Dwight Way in Telegraph Hill, Berkeley. The project proposal includes the development of additional four stories of residences into a four-story mixed-use building. The exisiting building was damaged in a fire in 2015 and has been unoccupied since then. Studio KDA is responsible for the design concepts and renovation. Evans Property Co is the property owner.
PGIM has filed a pre-application permit for a 25-story mixed-use tower at 2190 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. The filing comes as a modification to prior approved 18-story plans by Mill Creek Residential. PGIM hopes to benefit from Senate Bill 330, passed by the State to assist residential proposals. If the application is approved, 2190 Shattuck Avenue could create 326 new homes by BART and the UC Berkeley campus.
