Excavation work is progressing, with portions of the concrete foundation visible at 2001 Ashby Avenue in South Berkeley, Alameda County. The project, named Maudelle Miller Shirek, will produce 87 affordable units, including twelve for formerly unhoused people, located directly across from the Ashby BART Station. Move-ins are expected by 2024.
Pre-application permits have been filed for a seven-story apartment building at 2300 Ellsworth Street in Southside, Berkeley. The proposal, located across from the UC Berkeley campus, is expected to produce around 90 units with the assistance of Senate Bill 330. Riaz Capital is the
project applicant.
Permits have been filed seeking the approval of a mixed-use project proposed for development at 3020 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the construction of a new four-story building offering residential and retail spaces. San Pablo Developers Inc is the project developer. Joe DeCredico Studio Inc is responsible for the design concepts.
The race for the tallest building in Berkeley continues, and it is a contest of single-digit differences. Updated plans have been filed with the Berkeley Planning Department for 2128 Oxford Street, which raises the project to 26 floors and 284 feet tall. The plans are now the tallest proposed building for Downtown Berkeley, extending just seven feet over 1974 Shattuck Avenue.
The Berkeley City Council has approved plans for a six-story apartment building at 1201 San Pablo Avenue, Northwest Berkeley. Plans for the project advanced through the city’s approval process with few changes. The project will replace a vacant lot with 66 new homes. Trachtenberg Architects is responsible for the design. The Miller Company is responsible for the landscape architecture.
