UC Berkeley has published the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Innovation Zone, a two-structure laboratory along the western edge of the university’s campus. New details shared in the document reveal that the proposed North Building is the latest to become the tallest building in Berkeley, and construction could start as early as this summer. The Berkeley Planning Commission is scheduled to review the design of a six-story apartment complex at 2136 San Pablo Avenue in Southwest Berkeley, Alameda County. The project will bring over a hundred homes to the single-story commercial structure. Allrise Capital is listed as the property owner and applicant.
Pre-application permits have been filed for a new eight-story apartment infill at 2442 Haste Street in Southside, Berkeley. The proposal will replace a three-story Victorian home with three dozen homes across from People’s Park and three blocks from the UC Berkeley campus. Studio KDA is responsible for the application on behalf of a San Ramon-based LLC.
Alameda County has started accepting applications for affordable rental units in the Maudelle Miller Shirek Community Building in South Berkeley. The six-story project is offering 86 units across from the Ashby BART Station and near Berkeley Bowl. Prospective residents will have until February 12th to apply for the lottery drawing.
A preliminary application has been submitted seeking the approval of a residential project proposed at 2018 Blake Street in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the construction of a new six-story infill structure offering 12 new housing units. Tripalink is the project developer. DNM Architecture is responsible for the design, taking over plans from the San Francisco-based Fifth Arch. RW Stover and Associates is responsible for the landscape architecture.
