City staff granted an exemption from the State environmental review process for a proposed seven-story apartment at 741 South Winchester Boulevard in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The CEQA exemption was granted through the Housing Accountability Act and the Builder’s Remedy provision, streamlining the planning process for 264 residential units. San Rafael-based SyRes Properties submitted the application.
A recently opened senior living community at 3355 Almaden Expressway in San Jose was sold last week to a new real estate firm. George Avalos of the Mercury News reported that Welltower Inc, a major healthcare-focused group, purchased Novelle Senior Living for just under $100 million in cash. The site is a recent construction, opening it’s doors just last year. As of now, it is unclear why the original developers, Columbia Pacific Advisors and SRM Development, chose to sell it so soon after completion.
The San Jose Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans tomorrow evening for a suburban expansion at 511 Cozy Drive in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project would replace a vacant school campus with 80 homes. The True Life Company is responsible for the development and is filing through TTLC San Jose Glider, LLC.
The environmental review process has been declared complete for a townhouse proposal at 1030-1038 McKendrie Street in Central San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project would add a dozen residential units to a surface parking lot just a few blocks away from the College Park limited-service Caltrain Station. Studio Current is responsible for the application and potential design.
The San Jose Planning Director is scheduled to review the Icon Echo proposal in Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The latest iteration will produce 645 dwelling units across two structures overlooking City Hall and a block from Saint James Park. Local developer Urban Catalyst is the project sponsor and applicant.
