Preliminary permits have been filed for affordable housing at a sprawling parking lot at 143 South Third Street in Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The proposal shifts away from a 24-story mixed-use tower that was first proposed by the Sobrato Organization in 2015. Pacific West Communities is responsible for the application.
A meeting this morning will review proposed changes to the affordable housing development located on parcel B of 605 Blossom Hill Road in San Jose. The proposed changes would retain the same total number of 89 affordable units, while otherwise making small design modifications to the site. Republic Urban Properties is still responsible for the site’s development, with EAH Housing handling the affordable housing component.

The latest application shifts plans away from the 105-key hotel once proposed for the corner site, now expecting over two hundred units near Diridion Station. WSC Developments is listed as the project applicant.
Preliminary plans have been submitted for new housing at 14830 Corralitos Lane in San Jose’s Alum Rock neighborhood. The proposal seeks to add 10 units to a single parcel, invoking the 2024-enacted state law Senate Bill 1123. The property owner is listed as a San Jose-based group.
Santa Clara County is moving forward with plans to bring more affordable housing to the central area of San Jose, with plans to develop a parcel at 1135 East Santa Clara Street. The county recently purchased the underutilized commercial property, with plans for its demolition and the new construction of 91 new units of affordable housing. Officials are partnering with Abode Housing for the development and administration of the site.
