The proposed legislation includes amendments to reduce bureaucracy, save time for small businesses, and support individuals and institutions working in arts and culture. Conceptual and architectural plans are under review for new buildings at California College of the Arts (CCA) Oakland campus at 5200 Broadway, Oakland. The project proposal includes the demolition of ten buildings and the construction of two new buildings along with other campus facilities. The proposal also includes changes in the landscaped areas on campus. CCA is the property owner. Solomon Cordwell Buenz Architects and Jensen Architects have teamed to draft the conceptual plans, design, and are responsible for the construction.

Construction Halfway to Peak for Marriott at 1431 Jefferson Street, Downtown Oakland

A new Marriott-owned hotel is quickly rising at 1431 Jefferson Street, just two blocks from Frank H. Ogawa Plaza in Downtown Oakland. The concrete structure has reached the half-way point in its march to the 18th floor. Once complete, it’ll open up 276 hotel rooms, of which roughly half will be managed by a Marriott Residence Inn and the other half by the Marriott-owned AC Hotel. Hawkins Way Capital is responsible for the development after fully purchasing the property in 2019 for $30 million.

Holland Partner Group is overseeing the construction of an 18-story residential building at 277 27th Street in Northgate-Waverly, bordering Downtown Oakland. A recent site visit shows construction has topped out, and most of the exterior facade is installed. Once complete, the apartment building, called VESPR or 24th and Harrison, will bring 405 apartments and 65,000 square feet of ground-level retail.

New permits have been filed to add a fourth floor to proposed townhouses at 1608-1618 32nd Street in Clawson district of West Oakland. If approved, the construction will provide more housing in an area zoned for industrial, medium, and high-density residential developments. The plan will provide six residential units on top of a currently vacant lot. The neighborhood Dogtown Development Company is responsible for the project through Gold Standard Partners LLC.
