Construction has topped out for the new R&D office building at 751 Gateway Boulevard in South San Francisco. The project has replaced a large surface parking lot in the city center, expanding the Gateway Campus owned by Alexandria Real Estate Equities and Boston Properties. The development is a joint venture between the two developers.
Development permits have been filed seeking the approval of the Bayer Campus Development in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the construction of buildings offering spaces for laboratory, warehouse, administration, utilities, maintenance, and production uses. Bayer Healthcare LLC is the property owner.
New renderings reveal the proposed new laboratory expected to rise at 290 De Haro Street in San Francisco’s Design District neighborhood. The five-story project would rise between 15th and 16th Street, across from 300 De Haro Street. Aralon Properties is responsible for the development.

Plans call for the demolition of a 9,200 square foot two-story commercial building constructed in 1972. Mindful Investments LP is the property owner. Workshop 1 is responsible for the design concepts and construction.
The City of South San Francisco has published detailed plans for a 26-acre mixed-use proposal by Lane Partners to develop offices or life science buildings beside retail and public open space. The project would demolish the dozen low-slung industrial structures nearby a residential neighborhood, large shops, and the San Bruno BART Station, San Mateo County. DES Architects will be responsible for the design.
