Significant Progress For Transit-Oriented Gateway at Millbrae Station Development

A visit by SFYIMBY has documented construction is humming along with four structures topped out in Gateway at Millbrae, San Mateo County. The project is a transit-oriented mixed-use project that includes market-rate and affordable housing, a Marriott hotel, retail, and office space next to the Millbrae BART and Caltrain Station. Republic Family of Companies is responsible for the projected $401 million development.

VTA Survey Open for BART Station Design Feedback

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, i.e., VTA, is welcoming the public to provide design feedback on the four future San Jose BART Stations. In particular, VTA is looking for ideas of visual elements to integrate into each of the stations. Along with the survey, the Authority has released some of the most detailed illustrations yet of the future transit hubs. The website is part of phase two in community engagement, the Construction Education and Outreach Plan. The website will receive its final comments on Friday, September 17th.

A new design iteration has been published for 17 East Santa Clara Street in Downtown San Jose, outlining facade changes and a future entrance for the city’s 2030 BART/VTA station. The proposal, to be called Eterna Tower, would add 200 new dwelling units to the Silicon Valley housing market. San Francisco-based ROYGBIV Real Estate Development is responsible for the project as the property owner.

The City of Oakland’s Planning Department is scheduled today to review the preliminary development plans and receive public comment about the mixed-use proposal around the Lake Merritt BART Station in Downtown Oakland. The proposal would reshape two city blocks at 51 9th Street and 107 8th Street with apartments, office space, retail, open space, and community amenities. The prolific Strada Investment Group and the Oakland-based East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation are responsible through a joint venture.
