City Rejects UrbanCore Proposal for 101 East 12th Street in Merritt, Oakland

Plans for a new mixed-income tower overlooking Lake Merritt have been dashed. Oakland’s City Council voted 5-3 to reject plans to sell the city-owned vacant parcel at 101 East 12th Street to UrbanCore. The Richmond-based developer proposed building a 360-unit residential development with a mix of market-rate and low-income housing in Merritt, across from Downtown Oakland.

New renderings have been revealed with the development permit for Villa Fruitvale, a proposed six-story apartment complex for 3751 International Boulevard in Fruitvale, Oakland. The development will create 183 new apartments designated affordable for low and very low-income households for youth and workforce families. Oakbrook Partners is responsible for the application.

A Final Development Permit (FDP) has been submitted seeking the approval of a housing project at 8750 Mountain Boulevard in Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of townhomes on two parcels that are a part of the bigger project site. The project will undergo three phases of development. SunCal is the project applicant. Oak Knoll Venture Acquisitions LLC is the property owner. Danielian Associates is the main architect on the project while PGAdesign is responsible for the landscape architecture.
