Construction Underway for California College of the Arts Expansion in San Francisco

Steel and wood have started to rise for the California College of the Arts expansion at 1140 7th Street in San Francisco. The new facilities, named Double Ground, allow CCA to close its Oakland campus and consolidate into the Design District neighborhood with a new landmark addition designed by the renowned Chicago-based architecture firm, Studio Gang. The new construction will integrate exposed concrete and mass timber within a new creative complex at the core of the urban campus.

Application Filed for Jewish Community Hub at 5901 College Avenue, Rockridge, Oakland

New plans have been filed to the Oakland Planning Commission for a new religious community hub at 5901 College Avenue for the city’s Rockridge neighborhood. The plans would repurpose an existing office space and create a new home for the non-profit Jewish Community Center of the East Bay, remaining in Alameda County. Equity Community Builders is responsible for the application.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office has acquired the recently-completed seven-story building at 345 4th Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The nearly $53 million sale will facilitate TECO-SF’s move out of their current Downtown location by the Transamerica Pyramid and Chinatown at 555 Montgomery Street. 4th & Harrison SF, LLC, linked with the Newport Beach-based Tarsadia Investments, is listed as the project sponsor.

The illustrations show what will be the fifth addition to the private college-prep institution’s campus in Pacific Heights, a three-story structure centered with a central gym, science classrooms, and outdoor space.
