The San Francisco Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans for The Village SF, a proposed six-story housing and community center for Native Americans at 80 Julian Avenue in San Francisco’s Mission District. The meeting comes two weeks after former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi secured $750,000 from the Inflation Reduction Act for the project’s development. Friendship House Association of American Indians is the property owner.

Plans for Expansion of Synagogue at 2 Lake Street, San Francisco

New plans have been filed to expand and renovate the Synagogue at 2 Lake Street near Presidio Terrace, San Francisco. The project would address seismic concerns and expand the religious facility for the Congregation Emanu-El, whose distinctive dome overlooks the affluent gated neighborhood. The project is being sponsored by the Congregation of Emanu-El and Equity Community Builders.

Construction is moving quickly for the new Science & Engineering Innovation Center on the San Francisco State University Campus. The SEIC building will bring new facilities with state-of-the-art equipment for future students while housing the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and the School of Engineering. The building is expected to open by early 2024.

Permits Filed for Samaritan Medical Center Expansion in San Jose

New building permits have been filed for the construction of three new medical buildings at 2505 Samaritan Drive and 2512 Samaritan Court in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The proposal is part of a long-term plan to expand and modernize the Samaritan Medical Center campus, close to the Cambrian Park Plaza plan. Cilker Henderson Properties is the project developer.

New renderings have been published along with greater detail about the proposed mixed-use El Cerrito Plaza in Contra Costa County. The project could create as many as 800 homes, a park, and a potential new library on top of surface parking around the El Cerrito BART Station. $4.3 Billion Campus Expansion Approved for UCSF Parnassus Heights, San Francisco

The University of California Board of Regents has approved plans and a $4.3 billion budget to build 1.5 million square feet for the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus in San Francisco. The master plan expands the medical complex’s constrained capacity with design by Herzog & de Meuron. According to UCSF, construction is expected to start next year.

City Provides Input on Ocean View Public Library at 100 Orizaba Avenue, San Francisco

The San Francisco Public Library is considering plans to construct a new branch at 100 Orizaba Avenue in Ocean View. The Preliminary Project Assessment review has been published by San Francisco Planning Department, giving insight into what city staff considers important issues for the project. The new project will replace the neighborhood’s existing library at 345 Randolph Street, also the smallest library in the SFPL system.

Construction Underway on UCSF Research Building at S.F. General Hospital

Construction work has topped out with facade installation imminent on the latest addition to the UCSF Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, or ZSFG. The five-story building is rising at the corner of 23rd and Vermont Street in the Mission District, on what was once a surface parking lot. The UC Board of Regents is responsible for the project.
