TMG Partners is expected to request an extension of the city’s approval for Telegraph Tower at 2201 Valley Street in Downtown Oakland. The developer had received approval for a 450-foot office tower in 2019.
Preliminary plans have been filed for a nine-story mixed-use complex at 2700 Shattuck Avenue in South Berkeley, Alameda County. The project will create nearly three hundred homes close to Berekely Bowl and a few blocks from the Ashby BART Station. Hudson McDonald is responsible for the application.
New permits have been filed to develop a vacant lot at 2222 Carroll Street on Ivy Hill, Oakland. The plan would create nearly two dozen homes on the narrow lot close to Cleveland Heights and 15 minutes from Lake Merritt, an increase from previous plans for 18 units across three structures. Oakland-based Team Projects is responsible for the developer.
Berkeley’s growing neighborhood could soon rise higher. The Berkeley City Council is scheduled to vote today to upzone Southside, a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood dominated by college students and small businesses on the south side of the UC Berkeley Campus. If approved, the rezoning would increase the area’s maximum housing capacity up by over 2,500 dwellings.
A recent Zoning Worksheet application has been filed and subsequently withdrawn for 2040 Telegraph Avenue in Downtown Oakland. Both applications are mixed-use buildings with housing, either for a 27-story tower with lab space or a 43-story high-rise with offices and a theater. The project is on the same block as the city-owned and landmarked Paramount Theater.
