The Santa Clara County Housing Authority and the County have celebrated the official groundbreaking for the Hawthorn Senior Apartments, a new affordable housing project at 715 East Saint John Street in San Jose. Construction will soon create over a hundred units and community amenities for senior residents, including some permanent supportive housing for formerly unhoused residents. Completion is expected by the summer of 2026.
Plans have been approved for the suburban infill project at 3464 Ambum Avenue in Quimby, San Jose. The proposal will replace one home with four in the center of a residential neighborhood. VIAM Capital LLC is responsible for the application.
Westbank and Urban Community are once again considering shifting plans for an office building to housing in Downtown San Jose. New permits for the Valley Title property at 300 South First Street and 345 South Second Street have shifted from two office towers into three clustered 30-story apartment towers with over a thousand homes. However, the joint venture is not canceling permits for the office iteration. Steinberg Hart is responsible for the design.
A new residential project has been proposed for development at 380 North First Street in San Jose. The project proposal includes the development of a new a seven-story, 118-unit multifamily residential building. Plans call for the demolition of an existing building and removal of 20 trees on the site.
A new residential project has been proposed for development at 210 Baypointe Parkway in San Jose. The project proposal includes the development of a new residential community offering 42 townhomes built in six buildings and 290+ apartment units built within a seven-story building. The project site is currently developed with a 67,984 square foot industrial building and surface parking lot which were constructed in 1985 and would be demolished to construct the project. KTGY Architecture + Planning is responsible for the designs.
