New Renderings, Timeline Established for McEvoy-Dupont Affordable Housing, West San Carlos, San Jose

SERA Architects has published new designs for a planned two-tower residential development at 280 McEvoy Street and 699 West San Carlos Street in West San Carlos, San Jose. The proposal would create 365 new affordable homes split between the Family and the Workforce towers by Diridon Station. Lendlease and First Community Housing are jointly responsible for the development.

Rezoning and development permits have been filed seeking the approval to rezoning from the combined industrial/commercial zone (CIC) to a planned development zoning district (PD) to allow the construction of a five-story hotel with valet parking and alternate parking. The property will be developed on a vacant lot at 1338 Oakland Road in San Jose. Plans also call for the removal of one non-ordinance sized tree. Urban Mint Hospitality LLC is the property owner. Pillars is the architect responsible for the design concepts. Roof Tech LLC and Uprear Build is also part of the project team.

Renderings have been filed for a transit-oriented mixed-use development proposed at 605 Blossom Hill Road in San Jose. The project proposal includes the development of a mixed-use hub featuring retail and residential spaces. The land is occupied by a parking lot for bus and light rail users. The apartments will be built by Green Republic Blossom Hill LLC, which is a joint venture between Swenson Builders, affordable housing developer EAH Housing and Republic Urban Properties, a privately-owned real estate investment, development, and management firm.

The proposal, at 14200 Union Avenue, has also benefited from the City of San Jose Urban Village framework to encourage the production of new transit-oriented urban hubs across the predominantly suburban city.
