Meeting for Former Fry’s Electronics Redevelopment in North San Jose

The San Jose Planning Commission is scheduled to review the site development permits proposal for the redevelopment of the former Fry’s Electronics property at 550 East Brokaw Road in North San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project would reshape a 19.7-acre property occupied by the box store and surface parking with almost two million square feet of office space and a public park. Bay West Development is responsible for the proposal, with architectural design by Gensler.

Upcoming Director’s Hearing for SoFA by Nabr in Downtown San Jose

The plan for a three-tower development in Downtown San Jose is up for public review at a Planning Director’s Hearing tomorrow, December 14th. The meeting comes after the publication of the initial study for the residential infill. The 474-unit project is a joint development with Nabr, a new direct-to-consumer housing startup, and the established local developers at Urban Community.

The project proposal includes the development of a six-story building offering retail, residential, and parking spaces. Oakland-based East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation is the developer. Sunnydale Block 9 contributed 95 units to the nearly 1,800-apartment redevelopment of the aged housing authority complex. Related California is the project developer.

The project developer, Presidio Bay Ventures, has recently submitted the Monitoring Conditions and Mitigation Measures application in a signal that the ministerial process is nearing completion.

New renderings have been published for the two affordable housing projects at 200 Folsom Street in the East Cut, San Francisco. Amended plans for Transbay Block 2 are scheduled for a public review by the city’s Planning Commission for next week on December 1st. As well, new building permits have now been filed for the 17-story Transbay Block 2 East, being developed by Mercy Housing. Transbay Block 2 West is being developed by the Chinatown Community Development Center.

oWow has officially broken ground on what will become the tallest timber building on the West Coast. The developer held a ceremony yesterday afternoon at 1510 Webster Street in Downtown Oakland, with members of the project team, the community, and city officials in attendance. The project will rise 19 floors with over two hundred homes. Speaking with YIMBY, oWow President Andrew Ball shared the company’s ambitious timeline for completion in 16 months.

Meeting Tomorrow for Icon-Echo Towers in Downtown San Jose
