Construction work has topped out with facade installation nearly complete for the four-story life science project at 777 Industrial Road in San Carlos, San Mateo County. The project rose quickly since our prior coverage in June last year when demolition had finished for everything but a single floor for adaptive reuse. Presidio Bay Ventures is the project developer, and W.L. Butler is the general contractor.
Renderings have been published for the future clubhouse of United Playaz, a 27-year-old non-profit based in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood. The project, aided by $2 million of state funds procured last year, will renovate the existing two-story structure at 1044 Howard Street with a community center. Arquitectonica is the project architect.
A 100% affordable housing project has been approved and is making progress at 121 East 12th Street in Merritt, Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of a six-story building offering 91 residential units, retail, and parking spaces. Oakland-based East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation is the developer. PYATOK Architects is responsible for the designs. DCI Engineers is consulting on structural engineering, Sandis is the civil engineer, and Jett is the landscape architect.
The City of Emeryville is sponsoring an affordable housing development at 5890-6150 Christie Avenue next to Christie Park and close to the city’s Amtrak Station. Later this week, the Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans for the three-structure infill designed by David Baker Architects. EAH Housing is the project’s developer.
Demolition permits have been filed for the existing single-story terminal building of Transbay Block 2 at 200 Folsom Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The permit was proceeded by new building permits from mid-November of last year for two future affordable housing developments with a total of 335 homes. The city’s planning department has yet to issue the permits to both developer, Mercy Housing, and the Chinatown Community Development Center.
