Lowe Buys Land for Sequoia Station Redevelopment, Redwood City

Development plans are moving forward for Sequoia Station, a six-structure mixed-use proposal to reshape the downtown of San Mateo County’s third-largest city. The Los Angeles-based private real estate company, Lowe, has spent $73 million acquiring the second half of the block around 1057 El Camino Real in Redwood City. The firm looks to construct three million square feet of housing and offices, parking, and public open space.

Multi-Family Apartment Building Proposed At 165 Jefferson Drive In Menlo Park

A new residential project has been proposed at 165 Jefferson Drive in Menlo Park. The project proposal includes the development of an eight-story multi-family apartment building featuring commercial and office spaces. Plans call for the demolition of existing office and industrial buildings on the site. Greystar is the project developer. Menlo Park Flats Venture, LLC is the project applicant. Heller Manus Architects is responsible for the design concepts.

AvalonBay Communities is planning to replace the surface parking of an existing residential community with new housing in Mountain View, Santa Clara County. The proposal would retain all 402 residences at 555 West Middlefield Road while creating 323 new homes and an amenity clubhouse on top of over seven acres of surface parking. The project has been endorsed by the Housing Action Coalition.

Construction Underway on Yerba Buena Island, San Francisco

San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Island, in the water halfway between the city and Oakland, is being redeveloped with over two hundred apartments. Commuters on the Bay Bridge will have already noticed The Bristol Residences, a newly-clad apartment complex facing the East Bay. Now, groundbreaking has occurred and construction is underway for the Townhomes and the Flats residences. San Francisco-based Stockbridge Capital Group and the developer Wilson Meany are jointly developing for the project. CAHill is responsible for construction.

City staff has recommended the commission reject the appeal and approve the special use permits to commence construction.
