Hotel Plans Progress for 8 Almaden Boulevard, Downtown San Jose

Santa Clara County Superior Court has upheld approval for KT Urban to build the 19-story Moxy Hotel at 8 Almaden Boulevard in downtown San Jose. The development will add 272 new hotel rooms with retail to the urban core of Silicon Valley, packing inside the high-rise. The 225-foot tower will yield 146,282 square feet, with a Floor Area Ratio of 16.7. Guest rooms will occupy floors three to eighteen, while the ground level includes an open lounge and a restaurant with a bar. Guests and visitors alike will also have access to a bar on the 19th floor with skyline views.

Alphabet has provided vital financing for a planned affordable housing project at 280 McEvoy Street in West San Carlos, San Jose. The funding comes through Google Endeavor LLC, a lending subsidiary. This comes after Housing Trust Silicon Valley took out a $15.8 million loan to acquire the parcel in 2018, setting a record for the two-decades-old organization. Renderings have been released, showing the futuristic design planned for the Career Education Complex at San Jose City College, San Jose. These new designs come from Steinberg Hart, an international architecture firm with roots in San Jose extending back to the 1950s. Once complete, it will offer facilities for career education courses and a welcoming environment for the rest of the campus. The spaceship-like complex is expected to cost $112 million for completion.
