Marinwood Plaza Affordable Development Moves Forward Despite Challenges

The proposed Marinwood Plaza Housing would build 125 new affordable units at 121-197 Marinwood Avenue in unincorporated land of Marin County. Legal challenges to the project were filed by Marinwood Coalition Against Segregation, which claimed that the project violated the proscribed maximum ratio of affordable units per property. However, the challenge was voluntarily withdrawn earlier this month, clearing the way for the development to move forward.

Preliminary Permits Filed for 2834 San Jose Avenue in Oceanview, San Francisco

Preliminary permits have been filed for a six-story apartment complex rising at 2834 San Jose Avenue in the Oceanview neighborhood of San Francisco. The development is looking to add nine units to a corner lot close to the Broad Street light-rail station. Tommy Costello is the project applicant.

Affordable Housing & Potential Grocer Pitched For 2700 Sloat Boulevard, Sunset District, San Francisco

Plans are pivoting once again for 2700 Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood. The latest filing could create nearly seven hundred units of affordable housing, along with a potential ground-floor grocery store and public parking, across from the city’s zoo and close to Ocean Beach. Raelynn Hickey of Nevada-based CH Planning LLC is once more responsible for the application.

Preliminary Plans For Health Center at 3841 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland

Preliminary plans have been filed for a behavioral health recovery facility close to the MacArthur BART Station at 3841 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood. The project would replace two smaller buildings with a four-story medical space. Hayward-based Horizon Services is the property owner and sponsor.

Construction Soon For Aquino in San Jose

Construction is expected to start later this week for Aquino, a dense eight-story apartment complex to rise at 498 West San Carlos Street in San Jose, Santa Clara County. New building permits were filed last week with the city’s planning department, and the team has secured a $112.5 million construction loan for the 278-unit complex. Urban Catalyst is the project developer.

The project would replace a 67-year-old home with a bespoke residence and an accessory dwelling unit for the Gap Inc. co-founder and local billionaire, Doris F. Fisher. San Francisco-based Obata Noblin Office is responsible for the design.

The proposal looks to replace two office buildings at 3236 and 3240 Stone Valley Road West with housing, directly across from the Alamo Plaza Shopping Center and next to the Iron Horse Trail. TRH Holdings LLC is listed as the property owner.
