Once again, plans are shifting dramatically for the potential redevelopment of the Sloat Garden Center in San Francisco’s Sunset District. After over a year of seeking approval for a 50-story tower at 2700 Sloat Boulevard, the previous developer withdrew plans in May of this year. The new joint venture has submitted plans to create over four hundred apartments in a 22-story tower.
The City of San Jose has kickstarted the public review period for 826 North Winchester Boulevard, a 17-story mixed-use complex with housing and retail. The proposal would create 135 new apartments just a few blocks north of the Westfield Valley Fair. San Jose-based VCI Company is responsible for the proposal.
Demolition permits have been filed for the existing parking garage at 850 Turk Street in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. The application follows the late-October new building permits being issued for the eight-story affordable apartment complex with nearly a hundred units. MidPen Housing and Tishman Speyer were selected to be co-developers of the state-owned property made available through the California Surplus Land Act.
Preliminary permits have been filed for yet another project that could reshape the Downtown Berkeley skyline. Earlier this week, plans surfaced for a 23-story apartment tower at 2029 University Avenue, making it the fifth or sixth tallest project in the city’s pipeline. Walnut Creek-based Laconia Development is the project developer.
Construction has topped out for Potrero Power Block 7B, an affordable housing complex within the larger waterfront masterplan in San Francisco. The milestone comes a month ahead of schedule and just over a year after work started for the eight-story Sophie Maxwell Building, with completion expected next year. Associate Capital is the project developer.
