Photo Update For BIG-designed Google Caribbean Project in Sunnyvale

Excavation work is underway; that is the headlining story from a recent site visit to the 40.5-acre construction site of Google Caribbean in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County. Two Ziggurat-like office buildings will soon rise with design by Bjarke Ingels Group, an internationally renowned architecture firm founded in Denmark. Google has tapped Sares Regis as development manager.

Renderings Revealed for SOM-Design American Buddhist Cultural Society, San Francisco

New renderings have been revealed for the proposed six-story home of the American Buddhist Cultural Society at 1750 Van Ness Avenue in Nob Hill, San Francisco. The institution first revealed the project in 2016 after a preliminary project assessment filing. A public hearing is to be held Thursday, September 9th, during which the city’s Planning Commission could approve the project for CEQA and push the religious facility closer to construction.

Oakland’s Jack London Square Ballpark Masterplan Could Host Second Tallest Tower in City

Recently published documents by the City of Oakland show that the Oakland Waterfront Ballpark District project could see two 600-foot towers beside the 35,000-person ballpark. If fabricated today, they would be the tallest skyscrapers in California outside of San Francisco and Los Angeles. Hines’ 622-foot proposal for Oakland at 415 20th Street is the only proposal that would be taller. The Oakland A’s are the project developer and sponsor, operating through the Oakland Athletics Investment Group LLC.
