Google’s Downtown West Plan Heads to Final Vote from San Jose City Council

San Jose City Council is poised to give final approval to construct the 80-acre Downtown West urban development by Google. The proposal would reshape a significant portion of the Diridon Station Area Plan in Downtown San Jose by replacing surface parking and low-density blocks around the SAP Center with a higher density of housing, offices, and retail. The City of Oakland’s Planning Department is scheduled today to review the preliminary development plans and receive public comment about the mixed-use proposal around the Lake Merritt BART Station in Downtown Oakland. The proposal would reshape two city blocks at 51 9th Street and 107 8th Street with apartments, office space, retail, open space, and community amenities. The prolific Strada Investment Group and the Oakland-based East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation are responsible through a joint venture.

Proposed modifications to the redevelopment plan give minor alterations to the approved mixed-use project of 3333 California Street in Laurel Heights, San Francisco. Strada Reveals $200 Million Plan for 395 3rd Street, SoMA, San Francisco

Strada has filed a preliminary project assessment permit for a 347-foot tall mixed-use tower with affordable housing at 395 3rd Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The application comes as breaking news for a previously unreported project. If approved as is, Strada would add 559 new units to the city’s housing market. According to planning documents, construction is estimated to cost $200 million.
