New renderings have been revealed for a proposed eight-story mixed-use building at 2440 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The project, named The Lair @ Haste, uses the State Density Program to build a total of 40 new homes, ten more than base zoning would permit. Bill Schrader of the Austin Group is the project developer. The project will be reviewed later today by the city’s Design Review Committee.
Demolition permits have been issued by the City of San Jose for 180 Park Avenue, allowing construction to start on the 20-story office tower, Park Habitat. The new high-rise is part of a flurry of proposals that aim to cultivate greater urban density in Downtown San Jose. The project is part of a multi-project master plan drafted by Westbank and Urban Community.
Updated plans for 2065 Kittredge Street are up for public review by the Berkeley Design Review Committee. The eight-story project would replace three low-rise commercial buildings with an off-campus student housing building in the heart of Downtown Berkeley. CA Ventures, an international development firm based in Chicago, is responsible for the application.

Oakland-based developer and architecture firm oWOW has proposed building 73 new homes at 3403 Piedmont Avenue, less than ten minutes away from Downtown Oakland by AC Transit. Now, the Sawmill Residences have passed an important hurdle in the approval process. The environmental review by Lamphier-Gregory for the California Environmental Quality Act, or CEQA, concluded that the project will not have a significant impact on the area.
