Meeting Today on Affordable Senior Housing at 1234 Great Highway, Sunset District

The developers behind a proposed senior affordable housing project along the Great Highway are holding a public meeting tonight at the South Sunset Community Center. The event will be held tonight, November 8th, between 6-8PM at 2601 40th Avenue in San Francisco. Speaking with YIMBY, a representative for the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation shared that the proposal is “very early in the development process,” with more community meeting opportunities expected to occur early next year. TNDC and Self-Help for the Elderly are jointly responsible for the plan.

Competing Plans Filed for 3997 Fabian Way, Palo Alto

Juno Realty Partners has resubmitted competing plans for housing at 3997 Fabian Way in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County. The two entitlements reflect previous plans by the developer for 292 or 350 units. The project made the news earlier this year as one of the first applications in the Bay Area to invoke the Builder’s Remedy for the 350-apartment version.

City Opens Permanently Affordable Housing at City Gardens, SoMa

The City of San Francisco has officially opened the 2021-built apartment complex as a permanently affordable supportive housing facility at 333 12th Street in SoMa. The project was developed by Panoramic Interests and grabbed headlines as the first in San Francisco to utilize the State Density Bonus program. The city purchased the development last summer, less than a year after opening.

New building permits have been filed for the adaptive reuse of 3300 Mission Street in Bernal Heights, San Francisco. The 100% affordable proposal will receive a fast-tracked approval process per the Mayor Lee-passed executive directive for the vacant building, which was damaged in a 2016 fire. The development team will include Mitchelville Real Estate Group, Bernal Heights Housing Corporation, and the Tabernacle Community Development Corporation.

Updated Design Ahead of Meeting for Adaptive Reuse in Pacific Heights

March Capital Management is continuing to pursue an adaptive reuse of the former private library for Cooper Medical College in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood. Updated renderings show the firm is honing in on the design, led by BAR Architects, that includes interior renovations and expansion. The city’s Planning Commission is scheduled to review the plan in a public meeting this Thursday.

The Village SF Among Winners of National Mass Timber Design Competition

The contest was run by the Softwood Lumber Board and the USDA Forest Service, focusing on building toward net-zero construction. The five winners will receive a combined $2.2 million. The Village SF, a proposed multi-function community hub for indigenous peoples in San Francisco’s Mission District, is developed by Friendship House, Equity Community Builders, and several Native-led nonprofits.

The project’s unit capacity has been cut in half, from twenty to ten dwellings, while the housing style has been shifted from apartments to townhomes.
