Development Permits Filed for Suzaco at 17 South Fourth Street, Downtown San Jose

Permits have been filed for a striking new office building at 17 South Fourth Street in Downtown San Jose. The project, tentatively called SuZaCo, will build glass-clad cross-laminated timber office buildings on and around the reused ornate two-story State Meat Market Building. San Jose-based Bayview Development Group, behind the residential Miro towers adjacent to SuZaCo, is the project developer.

San Jose City Council is poised to give final approval to construct the 80-acre Downtown West urban development by Google. The proposal would reshape a significant portion of the Diridon Station Area Plan in Downtown San Jose by replacing surface parking and low-density blocks around the SAP Center with a higher density of housing, offices, and retail. New building permits have been filed for the 14-story mixed-use development at 1101-1123 Sutter Street in Polk Gulch, San Francisco. The permits call for 201 new units to be built, which would provide the most housing of four options considered by the Historic Preservation Commission in early February. The Martin Building Company is responsible for the development through 1101 Sutter Affordable LP.
