Deep-Dive Into Plans For San Francisco’s Potential Tallest Skyscraper at 77 Beale Street

Detailed plans have emerged for the potential redevelopment of an entire city block in the heart of San Francisco. The plans include renovations of several historic buildings along Market Street, as well as potential housing or hotel rooms at the former PG&E/Matson Block. However, the most ambitious component of the proposal is the demolition of the existing 34-story office tower at 77 Beale Street, to be replaced by the tallest building in California.

Permit Extension Requested for Bay Center Life Science Project in Emeryville

A meeting is scheduled for today to discuss the possible extension of a Major Use Permit and Design Review Approval for 6445 Christie Avenue in Emeryville. Harvest Properties originally brought the project in 2022, but has yet to break ground despite being approved by the City of Emeryville. The meeting today will determine if they are allowed to extend the development timeframe another year or if the project is dead in the water.

Permits Filed for New Mixed Use Building on Cedar Street in West Berkeley

A single-family home at 811 Cedar Street in Berkeley is to be demolished and reconstructed in to a mixed-use office and residential space. The building will rise 34 feet high near the Corner of Cedar Street and Sixth Street, creating a notable increase in prominence compared to the existing 18-foot structure. Stackhouse De la Peña Trachtenberg Architects are responsible for the new building designs.
