For the last twelve days of the year, SF YIMBY will look back on each month and share the biggest stories we covered. The month of May started slowly, with illustrations for the High-Speed Rail project, but ended with substantial construction activity documented across the Bay Area, including a rising Life Sciences campus by the San Bruno BART Station. The builder’s remedy was floated for a 350-unit apartment complex in Palo Alto, and YIMBY revealed plans for new housing at the base of Sutro Tower.

SFYIMBY Year in Review: April 2023

For the last twelve days of this year, SF YIMBY will look back on each month and share the biggest stories we covered. April was the most active month yet, including our first look at the proposed Sunset Tower, which shocked the region. Less shocking but still of great interest, SHVO revealed new illustrations for a Foster-designed Three Transamerica, construction was spotted at YouTube’s new SHoP-designed HQ, and Republic opened the region’s largest new Transit-Oriented Development in Millbrae. Plans for 469 Stevenson Street got a second life with a new application, plans that received a shot of reality this Thursday, more on that below. Lastly, this was the month when Oakland A’s president, Dave Kaval, announced that the team had purchased land in Las Vegas and would leave California, ending a drawn-out saga of negotiations with the city to build Howard Terminal.

Permits Approved for 3419 San Pablo Avenue, West Oakland

Development permits have been approved for the proposed six-story affordable housing infill at 3419 San Pablo Avenue in West Oakland, Alameda County. The proposal, led by East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation, will replace a surface parking lot and small structures next to the California Hotel with 60 new homes. Residents will be given access to a community space and residential services.
