Ingka Centres is starting construction on the new IKEA to open at 945 Market Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The new location is part of the company’s move away from warehouse stores to urban-center retail with delivery. GreenbergFarrow will be the project’s architect and structural engineer.

Permits have been filed seeking the approval of renovation of a building at 2449 Dwight Way in Telegraph Hill, Berkeley. The project proposal includes the development of additional four stories of residences into a four-story mixed-use building. Plans for a townhome development at 1431 El Camino Real are heading to the Burlingame Planning Commission, a city close to SFO and San Mateo in San Mateo County. The project will yield six new units with parking. GGH Investments LLC, led by a Hillborough-based resident, is responsible for the development.

PGIM has filed a pre-application permit for a 25-story mixed-use tower at 2190 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. The filing comes as a modification to prior approved 18-story plans by Mill Creek Residential. PGIM hopes to benefit from Senate Bill 330, passed by the State to assist residential proposals. If the application is approved, 2190 Shattuck Avenue could create 326 new homes by BART and the UC Berkeley campus.

Groundbreaking Held For Helen Diller Anchor House in UC Berkeley

Construction is now underway on a massive, new student housing project at UC Berkeley. The project proposal includes the development of a 14-story building dedicated entirely to house transfer students on the campus of UC Berkeley. Plans call for the demolition of two historic structures as well as a 112-year-old rent-controlled building at 1921 Walnut Street. Morris Adjmi Architects is responsible for the design concepts. Anchor House was developed in collaboration with the Helen Diller Foundation and UC Berkeley Capital Strategies.
