Development permits have been approved for Edward Shands Workforce Housing, a multi-structure residential project at 2455-2511 Church Street in East Oakland, Alameda County. The city approval came less than two months after formal applications were filed to the city. Eagle Environmental Construction is the project sponsor, while the Oakland Unified School District is the property owner.
The Half Moon Bay City Council has granted final approval for the proposed farmworker housing at 555 Kelly Avenue. The affordable housing project would bring 40 units to support the coastal city’s agricultural community. Mercy Housing is the project developer, working alongside local non-profit Ayudando Latinos A Soñar, or ALAS.
BRIDGE Housing and the Unity Council have officially opened Casa Sueños, a four-story affordable housing complex at 3511 East 12th Street in Fruitvale, Oakland. The project, which will bring 181 units immediately next to the Fruitvale BART Station, is Phase IIB of the mixed-use Fruitvale Transit Village.
Construction has officially started for 2550 Irving Street, an affordable housing project in San Francisco’s Sunset District. The mid-rise complex aims to bring 90 units to the historically low-density neighborhood, close to the Sunset Super grocery store and a block from Golden Gate Park. The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation is responsible for the application.
Revised permits have been reduced plans for the fully affordable Gateway Tower at 470 South Market Street in Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project has shrunk from 25 floors in 2016 to 21 floors in 2020, and now 15 floors. The Core Companies is the project developer.
