Permits for Cranes filed for 1629 Market Street, SoMa, San Francisco

New permits have been filed to approve bringing cranes to construct the five-structure mixed-use development 1629 Market Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The two-acre-wide project has already broken ground, with the site protected by composite wood fencing. San Francisco-based Strada Investment Group and the UA Local 38 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Hall have signed a development agreement, with Strada credited as the property owner.

California’s New Housing Laws for 2021, Increase Density Bonus to 50% and More

The California State Government is implementing a few new laws to increase housing production, starting as early as tomorrow, January 1st, 2021. The headlining story is that the state density bonus for affordable housing will increase from 35% to 50%. That density bonus is in Assembly Bill 2345, introduced by Assembly Members David Chiu of San Francisco and Lorena Gonzalez of San Diego. While none of the new laws are expected to shift future development across the Bay Area significantly, they allow for a gradual increase in housing production statewide.

Initial development permits reveal plans to develop a parcel next to the Balboa Park BART station into an affordable housing project on 2340 San Jose Avenue in Ocean View, San Francisco. The project proposal consists of constructing 121 residential units and 12,000 square feet of retail space, community service space, and a child care center on the lot. Alliant Invests $30 Million for Kawana Springs, Santa Rosa, Sonoma County

Alliant Capital has announced the $30 million investment has closed, progressing plans to build the 151-unit affordable housing project at 450 Kawana Springs Road in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County. The 60-foot project will bring a new hub of medium-high density residential living immediately opposite the large Santa Rosa Market Place shopping center inside the Mendocino / Santa Rosa Avenue Priority Development Area. Kawana Springs also provides housing for residents displaced by the 2017 wildfires.
