Marinwood Plaza Affordable Development Moves Forward Despite Challenges

The proposed Marinwood Plaza Housing would build 125 new affordable units at 121-197 Marinwood Avenue in unincorporated land of Marin County. Legal challenges to the project were filed by Marinwood Coalition Against Segregation, which claimed that the project violated the proscribed maximum ratio of affordable units per property. However, the challenge was voluntarily withdrawn earlier this month, clearing the way for the development to move forward.

Affordable Housing & Potential Grocer Pitched For 2700 Sloat Boulevard, Sunset District, San Francisco

Plans are pivoting once again for 2700 Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood. The latest filing could create nearly seven hundred units of affordable housing, along with a potential ground-floor grocery store and public parking, across from the city’s zoo and close to Ocean Beach. Raelynn Hickey of Nevada-based CH Planning LLC is once more responsible for the application.

Groundbreaking For Distel Circle Affordable Housing, Los Altos

The official groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday afternoon for Distel Circle, a five-story affordable housing infill at 330 Distel Circle in Los Altos, Santa Clara County. The project is adding 90 units to the city’s northern border with Mountain View. EAH Housing is the project developer.

Groundbreaking Ceremony For 300 De Haro Street, San Francisco

Construction has officially started for the 11-story infill at 300 De Haro Street at the bottom of Potrero Hill in San Francisco. The groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday morning with State Senator Scott Weiner, the project team, and community members in attendance. Once complete, the triangular development will add over four hundred units of affordable housing overlooking 16th and De Haro Street. DM Development and MRK Partners are jointly responsible for the project.

Construction Underway For Hawthorn Senior Housing, San Jose

Construction has topped out for a four-story development at 715 East Saint John Street in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The Hawthorn Senior Affordable Housing, as the project is named, will add over a hundred units to an acre across from the San Jose Medical Plaza. The Santa Clara County Housing Authority is responsible for the development.

Affordable Housing Complete at 301 Alves Lane, Bay Point

Construction work is complete for a three-story affordable housing complex at 301 Alves Lane in Bay Point, Contra Costa County. The project, named the Breton Apartments, has added over a hundred rental units of below-market-rate apartments close to the Pittsburg Bay Point BART Station. Los Angeles-based Meta Housing Corporation is the project developer.

CEQA Documents Updated for 749 West El Camino Real in Mountain View

A mixed use project containing two new buildings has moved forward with the release of a CEQA final report. The project, located at 749 West El Camino Real plans to bring updated commercial space and new residential units to the city of Mountain View. SF YIMBY has been following the project and it’s iterations since 2023.

Design Review Meeting Scheduled for 2138 Kittredge Street in Berkeley

A new design review meeting has been scheduled to discuss plans for demolishing a four-unit residential building and replacing it with a 66-unit residential project located at 2138 Kittredge Street in Berkeley. The project is being brought by the Austin Group as part of a recent densification trend in Berkeley’s downtown area.

Affordable Housing Approved For 650 Divisadero Street, San Francisco

Plans have been approved for a ten-story apartment complex at 650 Divisadero Street in San Francisco. The proposal will add over a hundred units of affordable housing to a corner lot along Grove Street, a block away from Alamo Square and just a few blocks from the Golden Gate Park Panhandle. The Young Community Developer and Jonathan Rose Companies are jointly sponsoring the project in partnership with MOHCD.

Affordable Housing Opens at 16060 East 14th Street in Ashland

City officials gathered earlier this month to celebrate the grand opening of Madrone Terrace, a five-story affordable housing complex at 16060 East 14th Street in Ashland, Alameda County. The project adds 79 apartments close to the Bayfair BART Station and shopping mall. Berkeley-based RCD Housing is the project developer.
