Permits Filed for Senior Housing at 76 North Winchester Boulevard, Santa Clara Agrihood

New building permits have been filed to construct a four-story senior housing building and community center at 70 and 76 North Winchester Boulevard, Santa Clara. These addresses are part of the multi-building mixed-use development dubbed Santa Clara Agrihood. The City entered a private-public partnership with Core Companies to construct 1.5 acres of agriculture connected to 361 homes, of which the City will sell 181 as affordable.

Facebook and Signature Release New Renderings of Willow Village, Menlo Park

Facebook and Signature Development Group have announced that they have submitted newly detailed planning documents for their proposed mixed-use district dubbed Willow Village in Menlo Park, San Mateo County. The proposal will cover nearly 60 acres with a mixture of housing, office space, retail, and public parks. Two phases of construction will yield over 3.3 million square feet of built area. OMA, one of the most influential architecture firms still active, is responsible for the design.

Development permits have been submitted for new six-story affordable housing at 730 Stanyan Street in Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the construction of residential units intended to house homeless households. Commercial spaces will be located on the ground floor, serving the surrounding neighborhood. YA Studio is managing the design concepts and construction of the project.

Rehabilitation Permits Approved For 300 Checkers Drive, San Jose

Permits have been filed and approved for the preliminary review of residential buildings at 300 Checkers Drive, San Jose. The project proposal includes the acquisition and rehabilitation of forty-nine buildings containing 700 units. The residential buildings stand on the northeast corner of Checkers Drive and McKee Road and span over approximately 0.67 acres. Community Preservation Partners, LLC, is managing the project.

There’s a new project afoot. SFYIMBY plans to highlight the 52 tallest skyscrapers planned and completed in San Francisco as of January 1st, 2021. This list will include towers nearly a century old and projects that haven’t even broken ground. We start with 52nd place, Studio Gang’s MIRA at 160 Folsom Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The 422-foot tower opened its doors last year, but even before opening, the building has garnered significant attention with a twisting facade responding to the city’s historic architectural vernacular.
