Largest Affordable Housing Project in Berkeley Opens at 2012 Berkeley Way

The largest affordable housing project in Berkeley opened its doors last week with an official ceremony for the Berkeley Way Apartments at 2012 Berkeley Way. The event launched the opening of low-income and permanent supportive units and the Hope Center, which now provides supportive services for residents and the community in the downtown urban center, with BART and AC Transit both nearby. The project is a joint venture with BRIDGE Housing and BFHP.

The City of Oakland has published updated environmental documents for a seven-story mixed-use development at 3050 International Boulevard in Fruitvale, Oakland. The project will reshape a 0.75-acre vacant lot with 76 units of affordable housing and dedicated space for the Native American Health Center. Satellite Affordable Housing Associates is responsible for the application.

Meeting Today for Tanforan Mall Redevelopment Project in San Bruno

The preliminary project application will be reviewed today with the San Bruno City Council. The 44-acre masterplan led by Alexandria Real Estate Equities will reshape the existing BART-connected mall with new retail, homes, and a life science campus. The plans have been able to move ahead since Alexandria purchased the final necessary parcel of land in February of this year. The total cost for the 44-acre San Mateo County campus was just under $330 million.
