Commission Approves Magnolias Affordable Housing in Morgan Hill, Santa Clara County

The City of Morgan Hill Planning Commission has voted to approve the Magnolias Affordable Housing project, bringing new affordable housing to the affluent small city in the southern reaches of Santa Clara County. The five-story project would create 66 new homes at 17965 Monterey Road, within walking distance of the town’s central retail hub and Caltrain station. First Community Housing is the project developer.

Affordable Housing Project Approved At 578 7th Street In Downtown Oakland

City Council recently approved a housing project proposed at 578 7th Street in Downtown, Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of a five-story building featuring 57 residential units. Plans call for the demolition of the existing vacant single-story 6,000-square foot commercial structure, occupied by La Borinqueña, a ‘Mexi-catessen’ grocery and bakery store. Riaz Capital is the project applicant. Stanley Saitowitz | Natoma Architects is responsible for the design concepts. Plea Partners LLC is the property owner.

New renderings have been revealed along with updated planning documents for Freedom West, a multi-billion dollar project to build 2,387 new residential units in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. The environmental review has found the mixed-use Cambrian Park Village would not result in any significant and unavoidable impacts to the environment. Thanks to this, property owner Weingarten Realty Investors is a step closer to construction in Willow Glen, San Jose. The proposal, at 14200 Union Avenue, has also benefited from the City of San Jose Urban Village framework to encourage the production of new transit-oriented urban hubs across the predominantly suburban city.
