Construction has started for a seven-story affordable housing project at 78 Johnson Street as part of San Francisco’s Treasure Island megadevelopment. Star View Court will create 138 new homes at parcel C3.1, close to the nearly-complete Maceo May Apartments, offering replacement housing for existing Treasure Island residents. The project is a collaborative effort by Mercy Housing and Catholic Charities.
New renderings have been published for the affordable senior housing proposal at 1003 East 15th Street in Merritt, Oakland. The project will be named the Dr. Kenneth Anderson Senior Living apartment complex, offering 68 units and replacement parking for the adjacent Williams Chapel Baptist Church. Eden Housing is the project developer.
Earlier this week, Mayor London N. Breed announced that San Francisco has been awarded more than $117 million in funding from the California Department of Housing and Community (HCD) for developing three affordable housing projects in the city. The support was provided by the California Housing Accelerator Fund, which was seeded with a $1.75 billion investment from the federal American Rescue Plan Act.
New building permits have been approved by the Planning Department for the construction of an eight-story affordable infill at 730 Stanyan Street in Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco. The project is expected to cost just over a million dollars per unit, costing nearly $166 million. Along with the approval, the Board of Supervisors has passed a resolution supporting potential state funding for the project, and new design plans have been revealed from OMA.
New development permits have been filed along with new renderings for a 100% affordable housing infill at 3419 San Pablo Avenue in West Oakland, Alameda County. The six-story mixed-use infill will rise next to the California Hotel and I-580 freeway. East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation is responsible for the application.
