845 Embarcadero Under Construction, Parcel A Rising in Brooklyn Basin, Oakland

Recent photographs show significant progress has been made in phase one of the waterfront Brooklyn Basin development in Oakland since the last site visit by SFYIMBY. Groundbreaking has occurred for 845 Embarcadero, wood is rising for Parcel A, and a platform for future pedestrian space by Parcel J is taking shape. Oakland-based Signature Development Group is developing the project, with joint financing from Signature, China-based Zarsion Holdings Group, and Reynolds & Brown.

Affordable Housing Under Construction At 950 West El Camino Real, Mountain View

Palo Alto-based Alta Housing has topped out for a 100 percent affordable housing project at 950 West El Camino Real, in Mountain View. Photos by SFYIMBY show that construction has topped out, glass installation is underway, and facade installation is being prepped for the residential complex. Van Meter Williams Pollack is the architecture firm managing the design concept and construction. Hill Associates is the landscape architect.

Construction Topped Out for 575 Benton Street, Santa Clara

Construction has topped out with significant facade installation progress made for the six-story mixed-use development at 575 Benton Street in Santa Clara, just over a block away from the Santa Clara University campus. The building will produce hundreds of new residential units along with retail and a public plaza. The Prometheus Real Estate Group is responsible for the project.

Development plans have been approved for the low-density apartment construction of 48 units at 3035 El Camino Real near Koreatown in Santa Clara. The project will add 48 units across four three-to-four story structures, adding a minor but significant contribution along the commercial thoroughfare of a suburban area. The Los Gatos-based Hayden Land Company is the project developer.

Strada Reveals $200 Million Plan for 395 3rd Street, SoMA, San Francisco

Strada has filed a preliminary project assessment permit for a 347-foot tall mixed-use tower with affordable housing at 395 3rd Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The application comes as breaking news for a previously unreported project. If approved as is, Strada would add 559 new units to the city’s housing market. According to planning documents, construction is estimated to cost $200 million.

Preliminary Plans Revealed for Lake Merritt BART Development, Downtown Oakland

The City of Oakland’s Design Review Commission is scheduled today to review plans for a substantial twin-block development surrounding the Lake Merritt BART Station in Downtown Oakland. The two blocks at 51 9th Street and 107 8th Street will create half a million square feet of new office space, retail, community amenities and contribute hundreds of new apartments to the Oakland housing market. Strada Investment Group and the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation are jointly responsible for the development.

$60 Million Building Permits Filed for 730 Stanyan Street, Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco

New building permits have been filed for the six-story residential development at 730 Stanyan Street in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco. The project will create 120 affordable units for low and middle-income households, focusing on providing housing to the unhoused. The internationally acclaimed OMA is responsible for the building design.

City To Review 1936 Alum Rock Avenue In Mayfair North, San Jose

San Jose City Planning Commission will review development permits seeking the approval of a six-story mixed-use project at 1936 Alum Rock Avenue in Mayfair North, San Jose. The project proposal includes the construction of a mixed-use development with 194 multifamily residences, a commercial space, and podium parking on the ground floor. The project seeks a Conditional Use Permit to construct and operate the new infrastructure.
Architects Orange is managing the design concepts and construction of the project. Pacific West Communities, Inc is the project applicant and property owner.

Move-ins for Phase One of 5M Expected This Fall, SoMa, San Francisco

Rapid progress has been made across the four acres between Mission, Fifth, and Howard streets for the 5M mixed-use project in SoMa, San Francisco. Facade installation has passed the halfway point for the 395-foot office building at 415 Natoma Street, while the 20-story residential tower at 434 Minna Street has just three floors left to be covered. A groundbreaking event for the new Mary Court park occurred last Thursday with Mayor London Breed and Brookfield Properties in attendance.
