Despite objections from contraction unions, an application to introduce a new residential project continues to progress for a site located at 3000 Shattuck Avenue in South Berkeley, Alameda County. The project proposal includes the construction of a new 10-story development offering space for residential and commercial uses. The project site currently houses Berkeley Gas and Smog gas station. NX Ventures is the project applicant and property owner. Trachtenberg Architects is responsible for the designs. InsideOut is responsible for landscape architecture.

Major Office-to-Residential Conversion Planned for CityView Plaza San Jose

In a major pivot, developer Jay Paul Co. has decided to convert a large portion of the ongoing CityView Plaza project from office to residential. The site, at the northeast corner of Almaden Boulevard and Park Avenue in Downtown San Jose, will transform an existing four-office building campus into 320 units, rebooting construction on the project which paused last year due to poor market conditions.

The project proposal includes the development of a new six-story mixed-use complex offering spaces for residential, commercial and student housing uses. The project site is currently developed with a shuttered restaurant, slated for demolition. The project site is a parcel spanning an area of 0.436 acres. The project site is located on the Northwest corner of East Santa Clara Street and North 12th Street.
