The Draft Environmental Impact Report has been published for a 13-acre mixed-use project at 1655 Berryessa Road in North San Jose, Santa Clara County. The 850-unit proposal is part of the larger vision to create new density around the Berryessa BART Station, the newest stop in the regional transit network. Terracommercial Real Estate, run by Mike LaBarbera and Rob Facchino, is the project applicant.

Facade installation has reached the halfway point for 921 Howard Street, a topped-out 18-story affordable housing tower in SoMa, San Francisco. The 203-unit building is a significant high-density addition to the city, one block from Mission Street and across from the 5M development. The project is a joint venture with Curtis Development and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation.

New renderings have been revealed for a residential infill at 93 Leland Avenue in Visitacion Valley, San Francisco. The L-shaped proposal wraps around an existing building fronting Leland Avenue, retaining the existing commercial units and two homes while creating five more apartments. Daly City-based Baukunst is responsible for the design.

Building permits have been approved for a four-story mixed-use infill at 347 East 18th Street in Oakland’s Merritt neighborhood. The project, dubbed Orchid, will create ground-level retail and 27 new homes, of which three will be affordable. Arris Studio Architects is managing the application on behalf of an El Cerrito-based LLC.

Demolition Starts for 1510 Webster Street, Downtown Oakland

Crews have started preparing for the demolition of a four-story structure ahead of construction of the 19-story apartment block at 1510 Webster Street in Downtown Oakland, Alameda County. Helped by an updated California Building Code passed in 2021, 1510 Webster is expected to be the second tallest wooden tower in the country. Oakland-based oWOW is the project developer and architect.

Renderings have been published for the first market hall in East Oakland at 6955 Foothill Boulevard. The project will replace the 1.2-acre Liberation Park with a permanent home to the Akoma farmer’s market next to 120 affordable housing units.
