Groundbreaking Ceremony For 3300 Mission Street in Bernal Heights, San Francisco

Construction has officially started for the six-story affordable housing project at 3300 Mission Street in San Francisco’s Mission Bernal corridor. The groundbreaking ceremony was held last Thursday with the developers, Mayor London Breed, State Senate Scott Weiner, and Supervisor Hillary Ronen. The project is notable for making adaptive reuse of the existing burnt-out structure while doubling the site’s height to yield 35 units on less than a tenth of an acre.

Revised plans have been submitted for El Paseo de Saratoga, the proposed partial redevelopment of a strip mall shopping center in West San Jose, Santa Clara County. The latest iteration cuts 325 units and adds a senior assisted living facility. Sand Hill Property Company is responsible for the development.

Environmental Review Starts For 41-Story Offices at 530 Sansome Street, San Francisco

The environmental review process has started for the potential mixed-use 41-story tower at 530 Sansome Street in San Francisco’s Financial District. The city’s planning department has issued the notice of preparation for the Environmental Impact Report, accepting public comment to inform the scope of the report. The project will include offices, a 200-key hotel, and a four-story replacement fire station across from the Transamerica Pyramid. Related and the City are jointly responsible for the project in a public-private partnership.

Public Review For Affordable Housing at 1927 West San Carlos Street in Burbank, San Jose

Public review is being requested for the potential redevelopment of 1921-1927 West San Carlos Street in Burbank, unincorporated Santa Clara County. The proposal includes the annexation of the roughly half-acre property to become part of the City of San Jose while constructing nearly a hundred units of affordable housing. Los Angeles-based PATH Ventures is responsible for the application.

Modified permits have been filed for the residential skyscraper at 395 3rd Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The updated plans include a slight floor-count increase, with two fewer units and a significant decrease in inclusionary units, while requesting additional waivers from the State Density Bonus law. Strada Investment Group is the developer.

New building permits have been filed for the five-story residential infill at 805 R Street in Downtown Sacramento. The proposal would bring over two hundred affordable housing units to the State-owned warehouse. CACDC and Mutual Housing are jointly responsible for the development.

Westbank and Urban Community are once again considering shifting plans for an office building to housing in Downtown San Jose. New permits for the Valley Title property at 300 South First Street and 345 South Second Street have shifted from two office towers into three clustered 30-story apartment towers with over a thousand homes. However, the joint venture is not canceling permits for the office iteration. Steinberg Hart is responsible for the design.
