Construction work is moving forward at speed for Mission Rock, a dense mixed-use project reshaping 28 acres of former parking along the San Francisco waterfront in Mission Bay. Concrete is in place for the podium for The Canyon to introduce Mission Rock’s first housing across 24 floors. Next to The Canyon, facade installation has started for Visa’s new headquarters, as the financial corporation’s President, Ryan McInerney, recently reaffirmed plans to remain in San Francisco.

Permits Filed For Mixed-Use At 4716 Mission Street In Excelsior, San Francisco

Permits have been filed seeking the approval of a mixed-use building at 4716 Mission Street in Excelsior, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the construction of a building with residential and commercial space. The new development calls for the demolition of two buildings on the site. Stanton Architecture is managing the design concepts and construction.

Increased plans have been filed for a twelve-story affordable housing development at 2700 Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco’s Parkside neighborhood. Project applications filed under Home-SF request approval for a 400-condominium structure, up from 288 units. Korb + Associates Architects is responsible for the design.

Move-Ins Start for Permanent Supportive Housing at 833 Bryant Street, SoMa, San Francisco

Construction work has finished for the supportive housing development at 833 Bryant Street in SoMa, San Francisco. Residents have already started to move into the 145 new units, accompanied by amenities, a ground-floor flex space, and support offices. The project is a partnership between Mercy Housing, Tipping Point Community, and the San Francisco Accelerator Fund.

The third tallest building proposed or built, and the second tower building standing in the Bay Area, is the Transamerica Pyramid, the defining icon for the San Francisco skyline since its completion in 1972. With a rooftop height of 853 feet tall, the pyramid would not be surpassed in height until 2018 with the completion of the Salesforce Tower. William L. Pereira & Associates is responsible for the design.

50 Main Street To Become Second Tallest Tower in San Francisco

Hines has announced that 50 Main Street will rise 1,066 feet tall, potentially becoming the second tallest structure in San Francisco. If built as proposed, the residential tower will be just four feet shorter than the Salesforce Tower. 50 Main Street, to be designed by Foster + Partners, is part of the 200 Mission Street campus, formerly the SoMa headquarters for PG&E.

New Renderings for SOM-Designed Offices at 424 Brannan Street, SoMa, San Francisco

Construction is expected to replace half an acre of surface parking with two new office structures at 55 Zoe and 288 Ritch Street. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the internationally acclaimed firm, is the project architect.

Construction is finishing up on Coterie Cathedral Hill, a luxury senior housing development at 1001 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco’s small Cathedral Hill neighborhood. The project adds 209 new units to the poorly supplied market of high-end senior housing. Coterie Cathedral Hill will be just the second project for the new Coterie Brand, a collaboration between Related Companies and Atria Senior Living.

The project proposal includes the development of a six-story building with a basement, offering residential and retail spaces and onsite parking.
