Renderings Released for CDD HQ at 2000 Marin Street, Hunters Point, San Francisco

A recent Community Design review presentation has revealed renderings from a new CDD Headquarters for the SF Water Power and Sewer at 2000 Marin Street in Hunters Point, San Francisco. The area is comparatively underdeveloped, given its proximity to the Central Business District. While this project will do little to increase residential density, the new structures will help improve facilities for a department in charge of the city’s water supply.

Lycee Francais de San Francisco Files Permits for 735 Ashbury Street, Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco

Permits have been filed for a new gymnasium for the Lycee Francais de San Francisco school at 735 Ashbury Street in Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco. The location is between Waller Street and Frederick Street. The MUNI light rail station at Carle Street and Cole Street is approximately four blocks away.

Permits Filed For 129 Green Street In Jackson Square, San Francisco

Permits have been filed to expand residential space at 129 Green Street in Jackson Square, San Francisco. The lot sits between Sansome Street and Battery Street. It is within walking distance of downtown San Francisco and the Muni Metro light rail station at Embarcadero and Greenwich Street. Neighborhood highlights include the Coit Tower just five blocks away, and the Exploratorium at Pier 15, three blocks east.

Permits Filed For 940 Hayes Street In Hayes Valley, San Francisco

Permits have been filed to add six new units at 940 and 942 Hayes Street in Hayes Valley, San Francisco. The site is just half a block from the large Alamo Square, providing nice green space by the landmark Painted Ladies. The address is located between Steiner Street and Fillmore Street. The MUNI light rail station at Duboce Avenue and Church Street is eight blocks away.

30 Otis Street Nearly Topped Out, SoMa, San Francisco

Superstructure work is nearing its peak at 30 Otis Street, a 26-story mixed-use tower at the far northwest edge of SoMa, San Francisco. The building will yield 418 rental units at a six-way intersection that has become a new nexus of high-rise residential development outside of the East Cut. Align Development is responsible for the project.

Portsmouth Square To Be Renovated In Downtown San Francisco

A presentation to San Francisco’s Civic Design Review Committee has revealed renderings for a revamped Portsmouth Square in Chinatown, San Francisco. Much will be changed, though the most significant additions will be a new building and redesigned playground. The park is central to the district’s community as a gathering point and destination for those visiting. I have fond memories of my first time seeing 838 Grant Avenue’s imposing facade and circular windows, awakening my appreciation for the breadth of urban architecture. Reporting from KQED this May details the project’s years-long saga of incremental progress, concluding that this proposal’s future is uncertain. This new presentation in front of the CDRC represents new fuel for its realization.

Demolition Permits Filed for 2100 Mission Street, Mission District, San Francisco

Permits have been filed to demolish a single-story commercial building at 2100 Mission Street in the Mission District, San Francisco. The submission is taking place just four months after the Toboni Group took control of a decades-old project for a six-story residential building at the address. The date of demolition has not been announced.

SOM-Designed One Steuart Lane Tops Out, SoMa, San Francisco

The SOM-designed One Steuart Street has reached its 220-foot pinnacle, looking over the Embarcadero. Located in the East Cut portion of SoMa, the new residential tower plans to offer unique listings for the ultra-wealthy who might otherwise look for single-family houses in the city’s outskirts. Now that construction has topped out, the project is fast approaching completion and occupancy.

San Francisco Narrows City-Wide Trash Can Redesign to Three Proposals

San Francisco Public Works has presented three options for new trash cans in the city. The new receptacles are to be distributed across the city, replacing the over 3,000 existing green bins currently in use since 1993. The proposes feature sleek silver designs intending to improve the ever-developing urban streetscape. A decision has not yet been made.

The address, located between Virgil Street and Shotwell Street, is a seven-minute walk from the 24th St Mission BART station. Kerman Morris Architects will be responsible for the design.
