San Francisco’s Design Review Committee is scheduled to consider approval for the design development of the Portsmouth Square improvement project today at 2 PM. The project, led by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, proposes redesigning and expanding the public amenities of the ‘living room’ of Chinatown. The project includes replacing the existing pedestrian bridge over Kearny Street with a new community building, modernizing the playground, expanding shaded seating along the central plaza, and more.

Renderings Revealed for 1112 Shotwell Street, Mission District, San Francisco

New renderings have been published along with new building permits for a three-story multi-unit development at 1112 Shotwell Street, located in San Francisco’s Mission District. The proposal will fill a currently vacant lot with new housing. The design with its oculus entryway and mansard roof come from Kerman Morris Architects.

Permits have been filed seeking the approval of the demolition of two single-family dwellings at two parcels, 650 and 654 28th Street in Noe Valley, San Francisco. The project proposal includes constructing a three-story type V single-family residence with an ADU at both parcels. Evoco Architecture and Interiors is managing the design concepts and construction of both residences.

$52 Million Secured for Maclac Building Redevelopment in Mission District, San Francisco

CBRE has secured $52 million of funding for the Comstock Realty Partners and the Dune Real Estate Partners to redevelop the five-structure Maclac Building site in the Mission District of San Francisco. The project includes 192-198 Utah Street and 151-191 Potrero Avenue. Adaptive reuse and new construction will soon transform the site for state-of-the-art light industrial uses in an industrial corner of the city.

Permits Filed for 2136 Great Highway, Sunset District, San Francisco

Site Permit Application has been submitted for a new residence at 2136 Great Highway in Sunset District, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the demolition of an existing residence and the construction of a new three-story single-family home. A Project Review Meeting will be held to further discuss the project. Juniper Architecture is managing the design concept and construction.

Strada Reveals $200 Million Plan for 395 3rd Street, SoMA, San Francisco

Strada has filed a preliminary project assessment permit for a 347-foot tall mixed-use tower with affordable housing at 395 3rd Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The application comes as breaking news for a previously unreported project. If approved as is, Strada would add 559 new units to the city’s housing market. According to planning documents, construction is estimated to cost $200 million.

Developers submitted a Preliminary Project Assessment application for renovation of the existing building at 2107 Van Ness Avenue in Pacific Heights, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the renovation of the five-story building to construct thirty-two residential units. The scope of the renovation will include major upgrades to the mechanical and plumbing systems, updated egress, and exterior improvements.

The 476-foot tall office building at 45 Fremont Street is tied as the 37th tallest building in the Bay Area planned or built. The low-profile tower was completed in 1978 by Shorenstein Properties, one of the city’s most prominent landlords, and involved with three other properties already featured on the SFYIMBY Tallest 52 Towers countdown.

New building permits have been filed for the six-story residential development at 730 Stanyan Street in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco. The project will create 120 affordable units for low and middle-income households, focusing on providing housing to the unhoused. The internationally acclaimed OMA is responsible for the building design.

Preliminary Permits Filed For 30-Story Tower at 1338-1370 Mission Street, SoMa, San Francisco

Preliminary project assessment permits have been filed for a 30-story mixed-use tower at 1338-1370 Mission Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The early draft proposes to add 287 new apartments and a small ground-level retail hub to the housing market. The developer will sell a portion of the units below market rate to use California’s State Density Bonus program. While the project team has not yet been revealed, they are operating through Mission Street Management LLC.
