Demolition Permits Filed for 12 Structures for Sunnydale HOPE SF, San Francisco

Demolition permits have been filed for twelve buildings along Sunnydale Avenue as part of Blocks One through Four in the Sunnydale HOPE SF redevelopment plan. The Sunnydale community was originally built during World War Two but has since become one of San Francisco’s most acutely neglected public housing neighborhoods. Mercy Housing and Related California are jointly responsible for the redevelopment that will offer replacement housing on top of nearly 1,000 new apartments.

High-End Restaurant Secured for 100 Stockton Rooftop, Union Square, San Francisco

A top-level tenant has been secured for 100 Stockton Street, the newly redeveloped retail hub by San Francisco’s Union Square. Chotto Matte, an international Peruvian-Japanese Restaurant, will operate from the rooftop terrace by 2022. Morgan Stanley and Blatteis & Schnur are responsible for the development.

Rosewood San Francisco Announced for 550 Howard Street, SoMa, San Francisco

Hines has announced a deal with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts to occupy the hospitality portion of 550 Howard Street, a mixed-use tower set to break ground early next year in SoMa, San Francisco. Dubbed Parcel F, it is the tallest of the remaining Transbay tower parcel remaining. The 806-foot tall tower is being developed by a joint venture with Hines, Urban Pacific, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

New Design for 1324-1326 Powell Street, Chinatown, San Francisco

Plans have been published showcasing a new design for 1324-1326 Powell Street, San Francisco. The proposal will replace a two-story structure with an eight-story mixed-use project between Broadway and Pacific Avenue in Chinatown, by the neighborhood’s northern edge. Cafe-owner Mahmoud Larizadeh is responsible for the development as the property owner.

Number 17: Market Center at 575 Market Street, SoMa, San Francisco

The 17th tallest building in San Francisco planned or built is Market Center, the 573-foot tall office tower at 575 Market Street in SoMa, San Francisco. Part of a two-structure complex, the towering offices were home to the international headquarters for Standard Oil of California, now known as Chevron, from opening until 2001. Now, the building is owned and managed by Paramount Group.

Future Visa Global HQ Tops Out at Mission Rock, San Francisco

Construction is moving quickly for Mission Rock, the multi-tower waterfront development by Tishman Speyer across from Oracle Park in Mission Bay, San Francisco. The first hints of vertical work were reported in spring, and floors started to rise for the future Visa global headquarters at block G by early summer. Now, the office building has topped out, with foundation work preparing for the vertical rise of the remaining three buildings in phase one of Mission Rock.

New building permits have been filed for a four-story single-family dwelling at 243 Staples Avenue in Sunnyside, San Francisco. The proposal will replace an existing house around the corner from the City College of San Francisco Campus. Sunnyvale-based Element Custom Homes is listed as the design architect.

Illustrations Revealed for Housing and Public Park at Transbay Block 2 and 3, in SoMa, San Francisco

New details have been published for two 17-story apartment buildings and a new public park to replace the former Transbay Temporary Bus Terminal in SoMa, San Francisco. Transbay Block 2 and 3 represent two-thirds of the full-block property. The projects are overseen by the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure, i.e., the OCII.

Number 18: Four Embarcadero Center, Financial District, San Francisco

The 18th tallest building in the Bay Area planned or built is Four Embarcadero Center, an iconic waterfront landmark in the San Francisco skyline. It is also the tallest of the Embarcadero Center mega-development in the Financial District and the tallest waterfront building in the region. The 570-foot tall tower rises just two feet higher than One Embarcadero Center. As with the rest of the complex, John Portman & Associates were the architects.
