Plans Shift for Warfield Building Conversion in San Francisco

Plans for the nine-story Warfield Building are shifting from residential to cultural conversion at 988 Market Street in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood. Community Arts Stabilization Trust and KALW Public Media have made a joint announcement sharing plans to turn the historic building into a hub for arts and journalism dubbed Warfield Commons. Group I had previously pursued a conversion of the Warfield Group into housing.

Recent plans have been filed to convert a reconstructed three-story brick building at 117 J Street in Old Sacramento to become a 14-key hotel. The existing structure is a reconstruction of the gold rush-era Sacramento Daily Union Building. Sacramento-based Bollinger Family 2012 LLC is listed as the current property owner.

Modified plans continue to work through the planning commission for a 23-story tower at 2115 Kittredge Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The team is continuing to pursue an increased residential capacity for the property, with new documents suggesting the tower could extend nearly three hundred feet above street level, which would make it the second tallest residential structure in the city. Gilbane Development is responsible for the application.
