In a major pivot, developer Jay Paul Co. has decided to convert a large portion of the ongoing CityView Plaza project from office to residential. The site, at the northeast corner of Almaden Boulevard and Park Avenue in Downtown San Jose, will transform an existing four-office building campus into 320 units, rebooting construction on the project which paused last year due to poor market conditions.
On Thursday, April 3, the San Francisco Planning Commission will hold a regularly scheduled public hearing at City Hall. The meeting agenda will include four items related to the approval of the proposed 29-story hotel at 570 Market Street. The project, designed by Danny Forster & Architecture, has been in the works since early 2021 but has not yet begun construction.
Last month, Brookfield Properties submitted a preliminary application for a mixed-use development at 678 Concar Drive in San Mateo. The project, designed by KTGY, replaces a previous proposal approved in 2020. The new project pivots from a more intensely commercial development to a more affordable housing-focused plan.
On Wednesday, the Oakland Planning Commission unanimously approved the voluntary merger and redevelopment of twelve legal lots in West Oakland. The project, designed by MSA Architecture + Design, would revamp the current AAA facility into a modernized hub.
Preliminary plans have been filed for a life-science industrial project at 405 and 455 Harbor Boulevard in Belmont, San Mateo County. The proposal aims to create around 812,000 square feet of offices and parking for over a thousand cars. Beam Reach Properties is the project developer.
