Official Groundbreaking for 1510 Webster Street Tower in Downtown Oakland

oWow has officially broken ground on what will become the tallest timber building on the West Coast. The developer held a ceremony yesterday afternoon at 1510 Webster Street in Downtown Oakland, with members of the project team, the community, and city officials in attendance. The project will rise 19 floors with over two hundred homes. Speaking with YIMBY, oWow President Andrew Ball shared the company’s ambitious timeline for completion in 16 months.

An updated pre-application has been filed for an eight-story mixed-use development at 430 Broadway in the Jack London district of Oakland. The development will create up to 300 new affordable homes across three structures. Related Companies is responsible for the project, working with co-developer EBALDC.

The City of San Jose Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans today for the 30-story mixed-use apartment tower set to rise at 409 South 2nd Street in Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The Orchard Residences project will create hundreds of new homes with some retail and on-site parking. Westbank is the project applicant.

The Final Development Plan has been published for the Emeryville Public Market, a life sciences development in Emeryville, Alameda County. The master vision includes a 160-foot office block, a garage, and a new public park connected to Amtrak with an elevated walkway. The proposal is a joint development by Oxford Properties and City Center Realty Partners.

Meeting Today for Tanforan Mall Redevelopment Project in San Bruno

The preliminary project application will be reviewed today with the San Bruno City Council. The 44-acre masterplan led by Alexandria Real Estate Equities will reshape the existing BART-connected mall with new retail, homes, and a life science campus. The plans have been able to move ahead since Alexandria purchased the final necessary parcel of land in February of this year. The total cost for the 44-acre San Mateo County campus was just under $330 million.

The proposal will create apartments, offices, and retail split between two towers across from City Hall and the recently-complete MIRO Towers. Urban Catalyst is the project developer.

Construction has topped out for phase two of IDENTITY Logan Park, an eight-story residential infill at 2370 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. While crews work to build the 69-unit structure, leasing has started for the 135 units in phase one, including the replacement Chase Bank at the corner of Shattuck and Durant Avenue. The Austin Group and CA Ventures are the project developers.

The City of Oakland has approved plans for the seven-story proposal at 2301 Telegraph Avenue in Northgate, Oakland. The unique mixed-use project aims to create a new community anchor for the neighborhood with affordable housing, retail, offices, and a performance center. Parcel Projects and McCormack Baron Salazar are jointly responsible for the development.
