Berkeley City Council has rejected an appeal of 2115 Kittredge Street, the proposed 18-story apartment tower to rise above California Theater in Downtown Berkeley. The project requires partial demolition of the 1914-opened theater, retaining the facade and bringing a new live performance space below over two hundred new apartments. Gilbane Development is responsible for the project.
Formal permits have been filed for proposed new housing at 2109 Virginia Street in North Berkeley, Alameda County. The project will bring over a hundred apartments to the corner lot, which is within walking distance of the Downtown Berkeley BART Station. Art Kapoor Realty Co is the property owner and applicant, filing through American Commonwealth Associates LP.
New details have been revealed alongside permit filings for the 15-story affordable senior housing proposal at 758-772 Pacific Avenue in Chinatown, San Francisco. Chinatown Community Development Center is the project developer, with the goal of adding 175 units for low-income and formerly homeless residents, alongside a banquet hall and supportive services.
Concrete has topped out with facade installation underway for the eight-story affordable housing complex at 730 Stanyan Street in Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco. The white and gray precast panels showcase the design from the influential architecture studio, OMA. Once complete, there will be 160 new permanently affordable apartments, retail, community space, and a childcare facility next to Amoeba Music, Whole Foods, and Golden Gate Park.
New renderings have been revealed alongside the formal application for 80 Willow Road in Menlo Park. The proposal aims to replace the former Sunset Magazine headquarters with Willow Park, a dense mixed-use neighborhood with hundreds of homes, office space, hotel rooms, retail, a Montessori school, and public parks on a creekside property close to downtown Palo Alto. If built, the project would become the tallest in San Mateo County.
