Construction is wrapping up for the hotel rising at 72 Ellis Street by Market Street in the Tenderloin, San Francisco. The boutique citizenM Hotel will occupy the site once complete, making space for 195 new guest rooms just two blocks from Union Square. The same company is responsible for the development.
Across the Bay Area, an array of large and significant projects have been progressing in the background, or with semi-recent news from before, we started SF YIMBY last month. 550 Howard Street in SoMa is one such project, and it’s a big one. Its construction permits were approved In mid-January of this year, clearing the way for the fourth tallest skyscraper in the Bay Area. Once complete, it will stand beside the Transbay Terminal 800 feet tall, designed by the Salesforce Tower’s same firm, Pelli Clarke Pelli.
Permits have been filed for a new mixed-use building at 2200 Clement Street in the Richmond District of San Francisco. The project will produce five apartments and four ADUs, along with 1,750 square feet for ground-floor retail. The five larger apartments will vary between two to three bedrooms.
Embarcadero Capital Partners is making progress on its plans to expand 1035 Howard Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The project has received approval from the city’s Historic Preservation Commission. This comes two years after the firm took out a $34.2 million loan for the development. This adaptive reuse of the currently-vacant Art-Deco office building will help retain a charming facade for subsequent decades.
Plans have been filed for a new three-story residential building at 411 18th Street, in the New Era Park neighborhood of Sacramento. The proposal, tentatively named 18th and DST Apartments, will transform a single-story industrial structure and adjacent vacant lot into a thirteen-unit building with renovated commercial space.
