Ingka Centres has announced that they will bring IKEA into the city as the firm purchased the 6X6 Mall at 945 Market Street in SoMa, San Francisco. IKEA will be the anchor tenant, occupying 70,000 square feet, with 180,000 square feet of leasable space still available for future businesses. The move has provided hope for the city’s retail market in 2021, with work starting before the year’s end.
1554 Market Street has topped off in San Francisco’s Civic Center neighborhood, near its border with Hayes Valley. The residential tower will be adding 109 new apartments at a site just over three blocks from the Civic Center BART station. Handel Architects is responsible for the design.
Demolition permits have been filed for a low-slung single-story commercial building at 828 Stockton Street in Chinatown, San Francisco. The application goes on to describe a planned 6-story residential building with ground-floor retail space. D-Scheme Studio will be responsible for the design.
Pearl Gateway Development LLC has filed permits to construct a four-story data center building at 2905 Stender Way. The application follows the demolition permits filed last Friday. While Pearl Gateway is listed as the developers, the property owner is CoreSite Real Estate. The site is in a heavily industrialized portion of Santa Clara.
San Jose’s tallest tower is looking a lot more like it’s renderings now. MIRO topped out in late July, with its facade closing in on the 28th floor for both towers. The project is addressed at 167 East Santa Clara Street, between 4th and 5th street, and directly across from the San Jose City Hall’s plaza. Once complete, the towers will add over a million square feet of new space to the city, predominantly residential with some retail and commercial space.
